Dr. Ruth Anne Reese

Dr. Ruth Anne Reese is Professor of New Testament at 国产视频 Theological Seminary and holds the Beeson Chair of Biblical Studies. She joined 国产视频 Theological Seminary in 2000. Her teaching interests include hermeneutics, wealth and poverty in the Bible, theological interpretation of the Bible, narrative approaches to Scripture, and the General Epistles. Dr. Reese places a high value on outstanding teaching and has been both a participant and a leader of workshops focused on pedagogy through the Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion. Reese is also the Chair of the New Testament Department at 国产视频 Seminary and serves on the board of the Institute for Biblical Research.
She received a B.A. from Biola University, 1991; and a Ph.D. from the University of Sheffield, 1996.
Dr. Reese has written several books, including James (New Covenant Commentary, Cascade, 2024), 1 Peter (New Cambridge Bible Commentary, Cambridge, 2022), and 2 Peter and Jude (Two Horizons Commentary, Eerdmans, 2007). Her Reading the Later New Testament (Baker, 2026) co-written with Dr. Madison Pierce is coming out soon. She is involved as a layperson at Apostle鈥檚 Anglican Church in Lexington, Ky, where she teaches adult discipleship, preaches on occasion, and serves as part of the ReVive Team focused on church health.
Dr. Reese is married to Alfred Haase and they have one son.
